Underground

For me, photography is a sacrifice of life itself. The artist sacrifices life in the name of art not because he wants to, but because he cannot do anything else. There is something very special about trying to sublimate the unconscious, but also something very painful.

The gaze develops,  rather than in the will to control and dominate, in the pursuit of persuasion.  It's a sham. It is a way of displacing the real  and replace it with images. Somehow these refer to a reality that cannot be consumed. The representation, the simulation allows to be manipulated and consumed. Representation has been used as a form of discourse, of definition, as a means of limitation and a mode of power.

Subterranean is a cluster where everything converges. My own fears are intertwined with images of some of the media information that has most  marked. Subterranean is part of the media memory of human horrors.

We must not forget that the collective soul is the sum of the individual ones. Subterranean is a manifesto against the fanatical pressure that is created around the canon of beauty. Aesthetic superficiality and advertising bombardment that negatively influences human nature. It is a mirror and the image is not plausible because our society has no scruples either. It is not intended to leave you indifferent; it soon wants to cause me criticism, ridicule, and horror; because it wants to be a basis for analysis and  a turning point for change.

Subterrani wants to highlight the Orphic nature of photography: everything that looks at the photograph dies, what is in the image is precisely no longer there and so what looks at it is annihilated. With underground I have tried to metaphorically kill the world of my fears related to the pain of humanity. Underground is also an encounter with death. Get it out of myself, amputate it.
